Full Job Description
Position Overview

The Research Scientist will conduct dairy chemistry research and must have knowledge in food or dairy chemistry. The scientific method will be followed to identify key factors that will lead to understanding of protein network formation, structure, and function related to texture development in dairy products. This includes exploring the influence of processing techniques as well as milk fractions determine their contribution to texture and sensory properties under different conditions. It is expected that the Research Scientist will quickly gain understanding of our product composition and manufacturing processes.

The Research Scientist is a core member of the Research Team and works in close collaboration with the R&D department and others across the company in a project dependent manner. This role reports to the Research Manager. Serving as a subject-matter expert in dairy chemistry, this role bridges laboratory innovation with practical manufacturing needs. The Research Scientist conducts basic science experiments and translates experimental findings into scalable, commercially viable solutions that enhance product quality and consistency. Their work supports continuous improvement and strengthens the company's competitive edge within the dairy industry.

Responsibilities

  • Seek out new technologies and methods to further the understanding and improvement of Daisy products.
  • Evaluate data for accuracy and precision.
  • Work as an individual contributor as well as a collaborator to achieve project objectives.
  • This role may require additional responsibilities as needed to support team and business objectives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. degree in dairy or food chemistry, biochemistry or general chemistry.
  • One to three years of industry experience is preferred.

Skills and Competencies
  • Knowledge of dairy, food, chemistry or protein chemistry is required.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with DSC and TGA.
  • Confocal microscopy hands on experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of dairy fermentation is plus.
  • Must be organized and able to maintain progress on several concurrent projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
