Description:Your opportunity:Based within the Research Oversight and Compliance Office team, you will work closely with research sponsors, researchers, grant and financial administration staff to support research reporting and financial audit. Your responsibilities will include:- Analyzing actual expenditures in comparison to budget and preparing reports for financial planning and funding terms compliance
- Interpreting and applying University and sponsor policies to independently determine research compliance
- Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for research agreements
- Preparing and recording deposits on a regular basis
- Producing complex statistical and/or financial reports
- Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
- Preparing budget variance reports
- Identifying and resolving individual data anomalies and discrepancies
Essential Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Commerce; or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum four (4) years of relevant financial accounting experience.
- Financial accounting experience to include: financial statement preparation in a highly computerized environment, preparation of financial reports, administering funds and managing multiple grants, account reconciliation and preparing financial reports.
- Experience with financial accounting systems (ex. FIS) and administrative database management.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, and ability to work under pressure are required
- Demonstrated ability to manage and improve on processes.
- Strong computer skills including the ability to work with a broad range of information system tools including spreadsheets and databases (including Microsoft Office products).
- Advanced level of spreadsheet skills; excellent numerical, data management, record keeping and administrative skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate to both non-financial and financial individuals at varying levels within the organization.
