Report Developer - Healthcare ITAltera Digital Health
Location: On-site - Long Island, NY (Candidates must be based in the NY Metro / Long Island area or within a commutable distance)The RoleWe are looking for a skilled Report Developer to join our Long Island team on-site. In this role, you will examine business requirements and build critical reports and data extracts that our healthcare clients rely on. You will act as a technical problem-solver, analyzing report logic, optimizing code, and working directly with clinicians and end-users to ensure they have the data they need to provide excellent patient care.
What You'll Do- Development & Design: Develop stored procedures, build reports, and create data extracts that meet specific client requirements.
- Collaboration: Partner directly with clinicians, end-users, and business analysts to understand, interpret, and document business needs into effective reporting solutions.
- Optimization: Maintain and enhance existing report code to improve efficiency, replace obsolete code, and implement procedural enhancements.
- Quality & Testing: Liaise with developers and testing teams to ensure product functionality is well-documented, peer-reviewed, and tested appropriately.
- Support & Troubleshooting: Provide on-call support, analyze production-related issues, and provide on-site support during system activations.
- Project Management: Manage change control (including activation and back-out plans), document project deliverables, and provide accurate status reporting.
What You Bring (Requirements)- Advanced SQL Scripting (Required): Must have strong, hands-on experience writing complex SQL scripts from scratch, as well as building stored procedures and functions.
- Experience: 2-4 years of relevant work experience in report development, technical support, and software maintenance.
- Core Tech Stack: Strong fundamentals in Relational Databases, Microsoft SQL Server, Reporting Services (SSRS), Integration Services (SSIS), and ETL processes.
- Problem Solving: Excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions.
- Methodology: Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Education: Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Logistics: Ability to provide on-call support and travel up to 10% as needed.
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)- Previous experience in a digital healthcare environment or familiarity with the healthcare industry.
- Knowledge of Altera Solutions and our client base.
- Ability to code, maintain, and troubleshoot Medical Logic Modules (MLM).
