Coastline Equipment is a leading John Deere Construction and Forestry dealer with locations in Southern California, Nevada and Idaho. Coastline provides world-class equipment solutions from John Deere, Wirtgen and Topcon. At their 11 locations, Coastline delivers best-in-class equipment, parts, service and technology solutions for customers. Our team of experts is driven to meet the needs of our customers both where they are today and where they are going tomorrow.

The team at Coastline is looking to hire a Rental Manager at their Bakersfield, CA branch and look to find an enthusiastic candidate to round out the team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Coach and lead the Rental Development team to secure rental deals, grow the business, and achieve year-over-year growth.
  • Business Development: Develop plans with Rental Developers to drive business growth and revenue increases.
  • Performance Monitoring: Conduct 1:1 reviews and weekly meetings with Rental Developers to monitor progress and develop growth strategies.
  • Financial Review: Meet monthly with Rental Developers and Branch Manager to review financials and discuss relevant topics.
  • Dispatch Management: Maintain the dispatch office, schedule drivers, and organize daily equipment dispatch.
  • Equipment Delivery: Assist with new, RF, and used equipment deliveries/transfers and provide necessary paperwork.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain customer relationships and manage equipment and attachment locations.
  • Account Establishment: Establish new rental and sales accounts and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Needs Assessment: Understand customer needs and suggest appropriate equipment.
  • Contract Accuracy: Ensure accuracy of rental contract information and maintain minimum insurance requirements.
  • Inventory Control: Determine equipment availability, perform inventory control, and monitor equipment for damage.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Schedule preventative maintenance with the Service Department.
  • Credit Policies: Follow credit policies and cash account procedures, and file preliminary lien notices as required.
  • Process Management: Process rental quotations, reservations, contracts, and invoices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Rental Department Experience: 3+ years of experience in Rental Department operations.
  • Software Proficiency: Ability to use standard desktop applications like Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Product Knowledge: Familiarity with John Deere and competitive products.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Communication Skills: Effective writing and speaking skills for individuals and groups.
  • Financial Understanding: Basic understanding of financial principles related to Rental Department operations.
  • Report Analysis: Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.

Physical Requirements

  • Driving: Must be able to drive and travel in a vehicle. For the purposes of driving, must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Work Flexibility: Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
  • Physical Demands: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.
