Full Job Description
Weyerhaeuser has an opportunity for a Reliability Supervisor at our Cottage Grove Lumber Mill in Oregon focusing on machine health. Weyerhaeuser is seeking a technically strong, hands-on reliability leader who is committed to safety, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and optimizing lumber production in a wood products manufacturing environment.

The Reliability Supervisor partners directly with machine route owners, maintenance, operations, and mill leadership to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, increase throughput, and support optimal lumber production. This role focuses on identifying and eliminating equipment-related losses, improving machine center performance, and ensuring reliability strategies are aligned with production, quality, recovery, and safety goals.

The successful candidate will work closely with machine center route owners and maintenance teams to understand equipment performance, prioritize reliability opportunities, troubleshoot recurring issues, support preventive and predictive maintenance practices, and lead root cause analysis for downtime, quality, recovery, and production constraints. This role provides technical direction, coaching, follow-up, and accountability to ensure machine centers are operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This role will work closely with the Operations Reliability Coordinator and Maintenance Reliability Supervisor to align operator-driven reliability, maintenance execution, and machine center improvement efforts.

This position has the potential of supervising an hourly team in a union setting.

The Reliability Supervisor reports directly to the Optimization Manager.

Key Functions:
  • Role model our safety standards and expectations through on-the-job behavior by living our core values of safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability and inclusion.
  • Partner with the reliability team, machine route owners, maintenance, operations, and leadership to improve machine reliability, uptime, throughput, recovery, quality, and overall lumber production performance.
  • Identify, prioritize, and eliminate equipment-related losses that impact safe, reliable, and efficient lumber production.
  • Use machine data, downtime history, inspections, maintenance feedback, operator input, and production results to troubleshoot recurring machine center issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause analysis and follow-up for repeat failures, chronic downtime, quality issues, recovery losses, and production constraints.
  • Support machine center reliability plans, including preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, precision maintenance, inspection routines, standard work, and reliability improvement projects.
  • Coordinate reliability priorities with maintenance planning and execution to ensure work is completed effectively and supports production needs.
  • Build strong working relationships with machine route owners to establish clear ownership, expectations, communication, and follow-through on reliability improvements.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED required, bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering preferred
  • 2 to 4 or more years' work experience in plant engineering, production reliability, or machine-center performance improvement in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred
  • 3 to 5 years sawmill production leadership preferred
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), or preferred equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with machine center owners, maintenance, operations, and leadership to improve reliability, throughput, recovery, quality, and cost performance.
Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of Access or Oracle, SAP, MS Schedule, MS Project, or other scheduling software preferred
  • Ability to develop and nurture strong relationships
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong decision and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision or in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with reliability-centered maintenance, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, precision maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and machine center performance improvement.
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays when operating conditions require
  • Ability to clearly communicate vision and strategy to various audiences.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and able to facilitate investigations of non-conformance events, repeat failures, downtime drivers, quality issues, and production constraint preferred
  • Ability to physically perform requirements of working in a 24/7 operating facility, to include ability to work in extreme temperatures and be ambulatory in an industrial environment with catwalks and uneven surfaces.


What We Offer...

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $69,000 - $104,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
