Full Job Description
We\'re looking for a Reliability and Failure Analysis Engineer to join our team! You\'ll be responsible for developing and executing reliability programmes for developing and qualifying our display technologies, as well as leading failure analysis. The display technologies are used in the next generation of Specs wearable computing devices such as Spectacles.

What you\'ll do:
  • Work with the wider operations team, engineering (EE, ME and NPI), designers, and contract manufacturers to plan and execute reliability testing to assess product durability and corrective action effectiveness, complete failure analysis, and implement corrective action
  • Determine, develop, demonstrate and systematize methods of assessment for components, subassemblies and process required to ensure each meet quality and reliability requirements
  • Provide subject matter expertise on reliability test methodology, measurement of device integrity, and test to failure approaches to understand design margin
  • Implement data collection, storage and data reduction for the purposes of providing real time accessible data and communication of ongoing testing activities
  • Support new technology developments: materials, processes, components and subassemblies using a systemic approach for risk prioritization and reliability growth.
  • Support prototype builds with contract manufacturers
  • Technology and strategy development
  • Identify high risk failure modes early in the design life cycle and collaborate with other teams to evaluate and reduce risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement in FA capability and methods, reliability test, product reliability test outcomes and field Reliability for new products

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated history working with EMS to prepare then execute reliability test plans and with engineering teams to communicate results, then analyze, correct and validate solutions to reliability test failures.
  • Demonstrated history completing and documenting failure analyses, inclusive of suggestions for corrective action and follow up validation testing
  • Experience personally operating and interpreting results of SEM/EDX, FTIR/DSC/TGA, CT X-ray, optical microscopy, OMM/CMM, Instron, potting/polishing cross-sections, and red-dye
  • Solid understanding of Six Sigma concepts and demonstrated capability to run Weibull and other model based reliability analyses
  • Good understanding of the physics of failure and behind material properties (mechanical, electrical, and optical)
  • Able to prioritize duties and work well on your own
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Background working collaboratively with both internal and external partners, domestic and overseas

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, chemistry, physics or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience with FA, reliability testing and technology development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters or higher level degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • At least one previous role (>2years in duration) in consumer electronics industry

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate\'s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position.These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):
The base salary range for this position is $142,000-$214,000 annually.

Zone B:
The base salary range for this position is $135,000-$203,000 annually.

Zone C:
The base salary range for this position is $121,000-$182,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
