Description Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.
SEWS - Farmington Hills, Michigan Office. Although located at SEWS - Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work. Associates are required to work at least four days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.
JOB TITLE: Release Engineer II
BASIC PURPOSE: Design and development of wire harnesses for current production programs as well as launching of new programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Design and release wire harness drawings for Nissan programs utilizing NX (3D) & Harness Designer (2D).
- Read and understand vehicle electrical schematics.
- Understand / mark-up / sign off on 2D wire harness drawings.
- Identify, track and resolve open issues.
- Good (positive) communication skills.
- Ability to mark up cost studies and other changes points in order to communicate to our customers (internal & external).
- Interface directly with our systems engineering team in order to translate changes to the 3D packaging & 2D drawings.
- 3D CAD experience is a must. (NX, CATIA or IDEAS).
- Interface with internal SEWS (USA) / SWS (Japan) / K&S (Mexico) / PKI (The Philippines) / SVWS (Vietnam) functional groups.
- Support vehicle launches / prototype builds at the customer or Sumitomo manufacturing location. Traveling is a must.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years experience with wire harness design and packaging (Layout). Wire harness experience is desired; however, any automotive experience could be considered.
- CAD (3D/2D) experience is required.
- Good language skills, both verbal and written, Japanese language is a plus
