New hires are typically brought into the organization with a starting pay between $115,683-$148,000/year. Denver’s Community Planning and Development Department (CPD) is seeking a talented and collaborative leader to be our Regulatory Planning Manager within the Planning & Policy Division. Planning & Policy is a high-performing team with a strong culture of community consensus building, progressive thinking, and multi-department collaboration. The Regulatory Planning Manager plays an important role in the leadership of the Planning & Policy Division, with direct oversight of the Regulatory Planning work group. The Regulatory Planning work group oversees a variety of plan implementation and regulatory functions, including amendments to the Denver Zoning Code, rezonings, and development of urban design standards and guidelines. This is an exciting opportunity to lead work that implements the city’s adopted plan goals for equity, affordable housing, climate resiliency, and connected neighborhoods. The manager will directly supervise 2-4 positions and lead a work group with a total of 15-18 employees. Key responsibilities will include: Collaborate with the Planning & Policy Director to set work program and operational goals and strategies to advance regulatory work. Provide direct oversight and leadership of Planning & Policy’s entire regulatory work program. This includes zoning code text amendments, rezonings (map amendments), urban design standards and guidelines, and comprehensive sign plans. Lead, inspire, and advance the professional development of the regulatory planning work group. This includes supporting career development and training goals, providing coaching and mentoring, and conducting performance evaluations for direct reports. Support subject-matter leads and team leads who guide regulatory projects. Develop and track performance metrics that measure the success of our regulatory work program. Determine resource needs to accomplish work program objectives. Build strong relationships with internal (e.g. other departments & agencies) and external partners (e.g. City Council, customers, community members). Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Public Administration, or a related degree. Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included supervision of professional planners. Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
