Product Regulatory Compliance Manager

Remote Opportunity | Midwest-Based Manufacture

The Opportunity

Our customer, a large and growing Midwest-based manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Product Regulatory Compliance Manager to lead and support product compliance initiatives across a diverse portfolio of products and manufacturing operations.

This is a highly visible, remote opportunity reporting into the Legal organization and partnering extensively with executive leadership, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, customers, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate combines strong product regulatory knowledge with exceptional communication and business judgment. This organization is looking for someone who understands that effective compliance isn't simply about identifying risk-it's about understanding the risk, communicating it clearly, and helping the business determine a practical and compliant path forward.

This person will serve as a trusted business partner who can simplify complex regulatory requirements, respond quickly to business needs, and build productive relationships throughout a large manufacturing organization.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and support product regulatory compliance activities across a diverse manufacturing organization.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve programs addressing regulations including California Proposition 65, PFAS, REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals, environmental and sustainability requirements, and other emerging product regulations.
  • Respond efficiently to customer and internal requests involving product compliance, regulatory documentation, Certificates of Conformity, product composition, testing, labeling, and related requirements.
  • Partner with suppliers and third-party resources to gather accurate product and material compliance data.
  • Work closely with Legal and business leadership to evaluate regulatory requirements and translate them into practical actions.
  • Perform thoughtful risk/benefit assessments and communicate regulatory risk in a manner that allows leadership to make informed business decisions.
  • Monitor emerging regulations and proactively identify potential impacts to products, facilities, suppliers, and customers.
  • Advise manufacturing facilities and business units regarding applicable testing, documentation, and labeling requirements.
  • Partner with teams at varying levels of regulatory and quality maturity and adapt your approach accordingly.
  • Support environmental and sustainability-related compliance initiatives as these areas continue to overlap with traditional product regulation.
  • Coordinate with outside compliance resources and third-party agencies to gather and maintain required information.
  • Conduct or support facility compliance audits as necessary.
  • Develop metrics and reporting to assess regulatory risk and compliance progress.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to streamline compliance processes, reduce unnecessary complexity, and improve response times for internal and external stakeholders.

What We're Looking For
  • Demonstrated experience in product regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of regulations such as California Proposition 65, PFAS, REACH, RoHS, conflict minerals, environmental regulations, and related product compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within a corporate environment and balancing regulatory requirements with practical business considerations.
  • Strong ability to gather technical and compliance information from suppliers, manufacturing teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory issues and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to gain cooperation from teams that may not have compliance as their primary focus.
  • Demonstrated initiative, responsiveness, and ability to independently move projects and requests forward.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to distinguish between theoretical regulatory risk and issues requiring immediate business action.
  • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the larger business objective.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities in a large, decentralized organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business systems.

Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable
  • Experience with HAZMAT and/or DOT regulations.
  • Experience supporting environmental or sustainability/ESG initiatives.
  • Familiarity with organizations operating under ISO and/or IATF quality systems.
  • Experience with compliance management platforms and supplier data collection tools.
  • Experience partnering directly with Legal, executive leadership, engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing operations.

The Right Fit

Technical knowledge is important, but success in this role requires more than knowing the regulations.

We're looking for someone who can walk into a complex manufacturing organization, understand the business, develop credibility with its people, and make compliance easier to navigate.

You should be comfortable explaining what the regulation requires, what the actual risk is, and what practical options the business has-without unnecessarily complicating the issue or slowing down operations.

The strongest candidate will be proactive, pragmatic, responsive, and capable of becoming a trusted partner to both Legal and business leadership.

Location & Travel

This is a remote opportunity with limited travel to company facilities and meetings as needed. Expected travel is approximately 5-10%.

For the right individual, there is also meaningful opportunity to expand the scope of the position as the organization's compliance needs continue to develop.
