Regulations & Compliance Eng Posting Start Date: 7/8/26 Job Location (Short): Peoria, Illinois, USA, 61639 Requisition ID: 36368 Onsite or Remote: Onsite Position Job Overview The successful candidate will be able demonstrate chemical expertise and experience which has been gained working in a role internally or experience outside of the Komatsu organization. Essential qualifications for this role include possessing product knowledge, strong communication skills, desires to be a team player, and having a positive attitude to problem-solving and will provide strong recommendations to ensure product compliance/ conformity. This role will support all US-design based Technical Centers in Mining, Forestry and the imported Construction products, and will leverage the global regulation experts across the Komatsu company in KEISA (European Union), KLTD (Komatsu Ltd.), and will network and collaborate with experts located across the world. The role holder will provide guidance and recommendations to senior level Komatsu stakeholders and will support the Komatsu organization to ensure product compliance. Strong participation in trade groups and standard setting groups is a critical and non-negotiable aspect of this role. The candidate will work closely with the Association of Manufacturers (AEM) and standards bodies such as ISO (International Standards Organization), SAE (Society of Automative Engineers), and EMA (Engine Manufacturers Association) etc. The role holder will coordinate gathered information between internal and external parties to enable strong and reliable collaboration and to speak as one-voice for the whole of the Komatsu organization. The role holder will work closely with agencies governing the North American region (OSHA, MSHA, Work Safe Alberta, Workman's Compensation Board of British Columbia, and Oregon OSHA). Key Job Responsibilities 34; Manages the overall Chemical Management System (KCMS) in North America collaborates closely with the Global Procurement function to ensure Komatsu's market access is protected. There is a strong desire to integrate this role into the Regulations and IP group and execute tasks that are unrelated to chemical related tasks (product certification and validation), supports cost reduction, cost avoidance, and efficiency. Is a willing, active, and dynamic team member with an eye for innovating how the team can best integrate Komatsu processes and systems. Epitomizes and supports a "collaborate to automate and automate to collaborate" working culture. 34; The role will support cross-functional teams such as Procurement, Sales and Marketing, and KNA/KMT Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will be a main conduit to the US-based Strategic Sourcing and the Engineering/ Technical Functions in North America but will collaborate extensively with Komatsu experts globally. They will be a subject matter expert for chemical compliance globally on KNA/KMT products and develop/conduct training initiatives for internal and external audiences on the requirements for Komatsu to conform to chemical compliance regulations around the world. 34; Will develop and execute communications between US based teams, KLTD Regulations in Japan, the European Union and global distributors in Australia (KAL). 34; Provide the chemical data for parts, components, and products to the respective practitioners in the regions (I.E., report substances of concern to KEISA to be input into the ECHA database). 34; Research North American governmental websites and report new regulations or updates to existing regulations to KLtd Development Division and to NATCs. Also research global regulations concerning NATC original design products. 34; Participates fully in Trade Group such as Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Communicates to Regulations & Compliance Group management any issues that may affect product compliance. 34; Actively respond to questions from Komatsu Product Managers, KNA/KMT Marketing, Field Sales, and Service staff pertaining to chemical regulations and will provide accurate analysis and interpretation and the applicability of those regulations. 34; In the event of out-of-compliance issues, provide support to develop a short-term resolution with Regulations & Compliance Group management and related KNA/KMT and Komatsu Ltd. staff. Support responsible North America Technical Centers or Komatsu Ltd. to resolve the issue with a permanent countermeasure. 34; Understand the principles of the Komatsu Way and execute in normal work activity and drive a "teach learn/teach" culture that supports people development strategies. Qualifications/Requirements 34; Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related Engineering degree plus 3-5 years working experience is strongly desired. The person will work with Development/Design Centers both in North America and overseas to ensure machines for export meet regulatory standards in the importing countries (e.g. EU, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Chile, etc.). A person with a long work history (>15 years) with the required skills could be considered. 34; Has a strong understanding of global chemical regulations but also has an aptitude for learning new processes, developing new tools, and skills. 34; Working knowledge of regulations and standards such as Title 40 Chapter I Environmental Protection Agency, Title 29 Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Title 30 Mine Safety and Health Act (MSHA), Canada CEPA, state and major municipal ordinances. Working knowledge of EU regulations such as REACH, RoHS, WEEE, ECHA, EU Waste Framework Directive. 34; Strong communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills. Result oriented, independent individual with a working knowledge of project management. 34; Ability and willingness to travel, including international travel (up to 15%).
