Your Opportunity:An exciting opportunity awaits in Edmonton's Perinatal Mental Health Clinic located at Outpatient Mental Health Misericordia Hospital. An interdisciplinary clinic with Psychiatry, Social Work, Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric nurses providing evidence informed and best practices in intervention, assessment, consultation, case management, individual and group treatment of perinatal mental health complications for women during pregnancy and up to one year after birth. The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse is responsible for initial triaging, intake assessments, ongoing assessments and referrals within PMHC. The RN/RPN will manage a caseload and will be required to perform psychosocial education and interventions. The nurse will demonstrate strong communication skills with a solid working knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused therapy modalities.
Description:The Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN/RPN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN/RPN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN/RPN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a RN or RPN program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the CRPNA and/or CRNA required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications: Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Diploma or bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Diploma or bachelor's degree in nursing with considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of CBT, DBT and Solution Focused informed care. Certification in CBT and DBT training. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience, preferably in perinatal mental health community setting. Critical thinking skills, working knowledge on the management of concurrent disorders, mental health disorders in the perinatal period and medical co-morbidities are required. Advanced knowledge and skill in the areas of evidenced-based assessment and treatment of mental illness and addiction is required. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and seek consultation when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: Connect Care trained in Ambulatory Clinic role. At least 3 years' experience in Women's health in acute care setting.
