Compensation

Salary: $48.80per hour

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range. Pay for PRN positions is calculated differently than Full-Time, Regular Part-Time, and Part-Time positions. PRN Rates depend on the position and other factors, including years of experience, or shift commitment according to the department policy. PRN differential is added in certain positions.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The RN I is training to provides specialized nursing care to the post-partum patient, including the newborn infant. Specific task elements are generally outlined below and may be found in competency check off lists. The Mother Baby RN is responsible for working as a team utilizing the multidisciplinary approach to provide nursing care adapted for each individual patient needs, based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The RN is also responsible for supervising, coordinating and delegating to personnel who participate in the provision of care, to ensure that patient needs and expected outcomes are met. The Registered Nurse I is an inexperienced new graduate nurse.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current CA Registered Nurse License
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification, or within six (6) months of hire for those nurses being trained in Mother Baby

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Experience in a Mother/Baby Unit
  • RNC-MNN certification
  • CLC, CLE or IBCLC certification
