Full Job Description
Registered Nurse - Travel Medicine | Full-Time Float

This isn't a traditional nursing role-and that's exactly the point.

What Makes This Role Different
  • Autonomy: Most of our nurses work independently. There's no charge nurse, no large clinical team, and no endless task list. You manage your day by seeing your clients and providing them with an exceptional experience. You'll have the support of our clinical leadership team, while maintaining ownership of your day-to-day clinic operations.
  • Specialized Expertise: Travel medicine is a unique nursing specialty. You'll develop expertise in vaccine-preventable diseases, international health risks, and pre-travel health planning-knowledge most nurses don't have the opportunity to build.
  • Meaningful Interaction: Every appointment is a consultation. You'll spend time understanding each traveler's destination, health history, and individual needs, then provide personalized education and recommendations.

Current Opening
  • Locations: Albany, NY & Saratoga Springs, NY
  • Position: Registered Nurse - Full-Time Float
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Compensation: $50.00/hr
  • Schedule: 40 hours/week

What You'll Do
  • Conduct comprehensive travel health consultations and educate clients on destination-specific health risks
  • Administer vaccines in accordance with standing orders and monitor clients for adverse reactions
  • Recommend travel health products and medications when clinically appropriate
  • Manage clinic setup, inventory, documentation, and compliance with safety protocols
  • Support onsite corporate wellness and vaccination events as needed
  • Complete ongoing travel medicine education and training-we invest in keeping your clinical knowledge current
  • Provide nursing coverage across both Albany and Saratoga Springs locations

Scheduling: What to Expect
We believe in being transparent about how our scheduling model works. Passport Health uses a census-based scheduling model, meaning hours are influenced by client demand at each location. While your initial schedule is built around a consistent Monday-Friday structure between Albany and Saratoga Springs, some flexibility may be needed as patient demand changes. Our goal is to provide 6-12 months of schedule consistency whenever possible while balancing client demand and business needs.

What this means for you:
  • Your full-time schedule is built around 40 hours per week
  • Client volume can vary by location and season
  • Flexibility to adjust the day split between locations may be needed as demand changes
  • Peak travel season, typically February through August, generally brings higher and more consistent patient volume
  • Your ability to work across both locations helps create greater stability and opportunity for full-time hours

What You Need to Succeed
  • Active RN license in good standing in New York
  • Compact/multistate RN licensure accepted, provided you meet applicable residency and practice requirements
  • 3+ years of clinical nursing experience; travel medicine experience is a plus but not required
  • Comfortable working independently and making sound clinical decisions
  • Strong patient communication and education skills
  • Reliable access to a personal computer; desktop or laptop required for training systems
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Meet
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory as needed, up to 25 lbs.

This Role May Be a Great Fit If You...
  • Want to move away from the pace and pressure of a traditional hospital environment
  • Enjoy educating patients and building meaningful one-on-one relationships
  • Are comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your clinic
  • Are adaptable and comfortable working across two nearby locations
  • Want the stability and benefits of a full-time position
  • Enjoy learning and developing expertise in a specialized area of nursing

Ready for Something Different?
If you're an experienced RN looking for a nursing role where your clinical judgment is trusted, your expertise continues to grow, and your patient relationships matter, we'd love to hear from you.
