Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Medicine This isn't a traditional nursing role - and that's exactly the point.
What Makes This Role DifferentMost of our nurses work independently - no charge nurse, no team overhead, and no endless task lists. You manage your clinic day by providing expert travel health consultations, educating patients, and delivering high-quality care. You will have support from a network of clinical leadership, but the day-to-day ownership of your clinic is yours.
Travel medicine is a specialty. You'll develop expertise in:- Vaccine-preventable diseases
- International health risks
- Destination-specific travel recommendations
- Preventative health education
- Every patient interaction is a true consultation - not a rushed, check-the-box encounter.

Scheduling - What You Can Expect - Passport Health uses a census-based scheduling model, similar to hospital or outpatient settings. Full-time hires are guaranteed full-time hours, and we build toward 6-12 months of forward visibility so you can plan your life around a known schedule window.
Here's what that means in practice:
- Your hours fall within a guaranteed 32-40/week range as a full-time hire
- We create a schedule offering 6-12 months of consistency, so you have a clear, forward-looking view of your work
- Flexibility - covering preferred days, weekends, or willingness to work multiple locations is the way to move toward the higher end of that range
- Peak travel season (typically February-August) generally brings the highest, most predictable volume
What You Need to Succeed- Active RN license in good standing
- Compact (multistate) RN licensure accepted - you must legally reside in the state where you are licensed and providing care
- 3+ years of clinical nursing experience (travel medicine experience is a plus, but not required)
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own clinic environment
- Strong patient communication and education skills
- Reliable access to a personal computer for required training systems
- Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet)
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory as needed (up to 25 lbs)
Ideal For Nurses Who:- Want to transition away from bedside nursing
- Enjoy patient education and preventative care
- Prefer autonomy over hospital-style workflows
- Want a predictable outpatient nursing environment
- Value independence while still having clinical support
- Are comfortable supporting nearby clinics when needed
