RN, Periop Program

A Brief Overview

Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct care to assigned patients with simple to complex health care needs

What you will do
  • Delivers patient care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Care and Practice, Patient Bill of Rights and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Delivers patient care in accordance with specialty specific standards (e.g. Oncology Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses) as appropriate
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the patient plan of care according to changing health care needs.
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient teaching using appropriate education resources and evaluates the effectiveness of the teaching.
  • Models effective leadership skill through role modeling, mentoring and effective communication. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
  • Participates in unit-based and organization-wide activities, committees and community activities as appropriate
  • Supports a professional practice environment by functioning as a role model and resource person and also functions as a preceptor for nursing staff and participates in the orientation of other unit employees.
  • Directly delegates and supervises the practice of ancillary staff (LPN's, PCA's, Tech's, Unit Secretaries, etc.) and is knowledgeable of the tenets of the NJ Scope of Practice guidelines.
  • Identifies own learning needs with respect to nursing practice and pursues educational support to meet these needs.
  • Routinely utilizes Evidence Based Practice literature, policy and procedure manuals and other available reference materials to ensure consistency and accuracy in the delivery of care.
  • Participates actively in the Performance Improvement process to evaluate the quality of nursing care delivered to patients


Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree BSN degree Preferred


Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years Minimum one-year current clinical experience Preferred
  • of lead, management or supervisory experience Preferred
  • 1-3 years Experience as an rn in an acute care setting preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expert clinical skills (High proficiency)
  • Analytical and problem solving along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal communication, coaching, leadership, management, strong clinical foundation, etc
  • Promote the service lines of HNMC and new services as directed. Promote the Holy Name Physicians Network.
  • Build long -term, ongoing relationships with community stakeholders and organizations by providing services through workshops, lectures, health fairs, lunch & learns, keynote addresses etc.
  • Able to trouble shoot computer issues
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements such as ICH-GCP, for clinical research preferred.
  • Strong follow through skills and ability to proactively identify and solve problems; demonstrated initiative is imperative
  • Must have professional demeanor, strong communication skills with the public as well as physicians and co-workers


Licenses and Certifications
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current NJ License Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS through American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support May be required dependent on specialty area
  • Current NJ License Upon Hire Required and
