Job Description:

Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Poughkeepsie (Monday), Fishkill (Tues-Fri)

Hours/Days: 5/8.5 hour shifts, Mon-Fri between 8:30am-5:00pm (37.5 hours/week)
Organization: New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)


In This Role, You Will:
  • Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician.
  • Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues.
  • Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record.
  • Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
  • Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol.
  • Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
  • Teach patients and caregivers families regarding treatment expectations.
  • Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive medications.
  • Chart the patient's response to treatment and medication.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about follow up care and emergency services.

We Require:
  • Valid New York State RN License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching.
  • Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
