Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg

Where You Will Work:

The Adult Medical-Surgical Unit at Aurora Medical Center Burlington provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions in a fast-paced environment focused on patient safety, quality outcomes, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The unit currently has 33 beds-23 on the West side and 10 on the East-with plans to expand to 37 beds next year, and maintains an average daily census of 29 patients with an average length of stay of about three days. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 4-5:1 on day shift and 5-6:1 on night shift, while nursing assistants typically manage 6-8 patients each. Required skills include BLS certification, with ACLS supported but not mandatory. This department offers a unique opportunity for learning and growth, making it ideal for new graduates and experienced nurses alike, as it encompasses a variety of specialties including medical, general surgical, orthopedic, oncology, hospice, and telemetry. Known for its strong teamwork and family-like atmosphere within a small community hospital, the unit seeks confident, adaptable RNs who embrace challenges and are eager to develop their skills.

We're Looking For:
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association


What You'll Do:
  • As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
