Department: Occupational / Employee Health

This position reports to the administrative manager of Employee Health. The nurse is responsible for
management and oversight of the clinical aspects of the patient care provided for hospital employees to
ensure the highest quality of care, service, and satisfaction of patients. The RN will provide input as a
first responder to work injuries and participate in the new hire, return to work and fit for duty processes.
The position is a combination of occupational and employee health roles

Responsibilities

  1. Complies with current regulatory requirements, JCAHO, OSHA, NIOSH, TITLE 22, ADA, PWFA,
    and Workers' Compensation laws.
  2. Acts as First Responder to employees injured on the job in conjunction with the EmergencyRoom:
    Monitors follow up care and maintains current medical status of employees in Workers' Compensation cases.
  3. Provides first responder support to managers, physicians, and supervisors.
  4. Administers basic first aid to employees with minor medical injuries within the scopeof practice
    for an RN. Triages injured employees to appropriate healthcare.
  5. Initiates and completes all required documentation in a timely manner.
  6. Provides ongoing communication with HumanResources department, Physicians, and employees as required.
  7. Assists with Workers' Compensation claims utilizing effective management of cases and assuring continued cost savings in all aspects of claims management.
  8. Understands and promotes consistency with Job Function Matching program andfacilitates consistent, appropriate, and effective work restriction determinations.
  9. Reviews all Employee Injury Reports, and assists Managers in the follow up investigation.
  10. Monitors employees returning to work on Transitional Duty, or from a leave of absence, and completes related documentation when indicated
  11. Administers employee medical status updates and accommodation requests, including Workers' Compensation cases. Schedules and facilitates interactive process meetings with employees and management to determine reasonable accommodations.
  12. Collect, and present objective statistics for review and referral to appropriate departments and committees. Compile data for trending analysis.
  13. Works with Plant Operations and the Safety Officer to assure compliance with Hazmat requirements.
  14. Participates as a resource on related matters such as use of industrial materials, working environments, industrial hygiene, safety programs, and Hazmat requirements.
  15. Evaluates employees exposed in the work environment to communicable diseases in tandem with the
    Director of Infection Control.
  16. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  17. Performs new hire and annual requirements of PPDs, N95 fit testing, flu vaccinations, and any other annual requirements per hospital guidelines for employees and contractors.
  18. Screens employees during return to work and fit for duty scenarios to determine ability to work utilizing Job Function Matching testing and other resources, as determined when necessary.
  19. Assists with rooming of patients and processing of data workflow as needed to maintaintimely processing of care.
  20. Treats all people with respect and is responsive to their needs.
  21. Completes .EDUs and other required hospital education by the due date.
  22. Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.
  23. Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal andState regulations.
  24. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested


Qualifications

Minimum Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Minimum Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum five (5) years recent RN experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Previous Employee Health Nurse experience required

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
  • Current California RN licensure
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA certified)
  • Current Certified Professional Specimen Collector - DOT Urine Drug Collection certification (or, within 90 days of hire/ transfer)
  • Current DOT Breath Alcohol Technician certification preferred
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred
