$32.50 - $48.50

A Brief Overview

Provides care and treatment to patients on maintenance dialysis Dialysis treatment is provided within the scope of nursing practice. Home dialysis nurses provide major portions of self- care and home dialysis training for dialysis patients and/or their caregivers.

What you will do

  • Performs and maintains knowledge and proficiency in technical skills for dialysis treatments.
  • Provides oversight and delegation to department staff
  • Understands and ensures compliance related to water room equipment operation and function.
  • Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, scope of care, performance improvement activities, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Documents in the patient record according to departmental policy/procedure.
  • Promotes and maintains documentation and an environment that is in compliance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies, including CMS/ESRD-Renal Network, and Quality Assurance and Process Improvement efforts.
  • Coordinates care of patients in collaboration with Medical Director, Nephrologist, patients, families, other nursing staff and all ancillary departments.
  • Acts as a patient/family advocate. Collaborates with the patient, family, and health care providers in providing patient care.
  • Identifies patient/family learning needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for patients. Provides patient education related to, but not limited to, the dialysis process and procedures related to that process, including care and management of dialysis accesses.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Certified Hemodialysis Nurse (CHN) - Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) Upon Hire or
  • Certified Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse (CPDN) - Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT) Upon Hire or
  • Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) - Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) Upon Hire or
  • Specialty Certification - The American Society of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ASHI) Upon Hire
  • Dialysis experience or critical care experience
  • 1-3 years nursing experience if functioning as a home dialysis nurse and an additional 3 months experience in each of the specific modalities (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) for which the nurse will provide self-care training
