Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical / Telemetry / Oncology
Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Wheeler 5 Adult Medical, General Surgery, and Oncology Unit.

In this role, the Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to a diverse adult patient population, including patients receiving care for medical, surgical, telemetry, orthopedic, and oncology conditions. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while working collaboratively with physicians, nursing leadership, and the interdisciplinary care team.

The Registered Nurse is accountable for the safety and quality of the nursing care they provide and supervise. This position also plays an important role in educating and supporting patients, families, and significant others throughout the care experience.

Nursing care is delivered in accordance with established Nursing Service Department standards, hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional nursing practice standards. The Registered Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing or designee.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to adult medical-surgical, telemetry, general surgery, orthopedic, and oncology patients
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status
  • Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and nursing standards
  • Coordinate care with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge plans
  • Promote patient safety, comfort, and positive clinical outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and members of the care team
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, organization, and prioritization skills
Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program required

Licensure and Certification
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts required
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers required

Experience
  • Previous Medical-Surgical, Med/Surg, Telemetry, Orthopedic, General Surgery, or Oncology nursing experience preferred
