4 West Acute Cardiology is a
30-bed acute care unit within UVA Health's Heart and Vascular service line, delivering care to patients stepping down from the Coronary Care Unit and Cardiovascular ICU, as well as those requiring specialized cardiac therapies.

In this role, you will balance autonomy with interdisciplinary collaboration in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. A typical shift includes:
- Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and continuous monitoring of complex cardiac conditions
- Administering medications and managing advanced therapies, including LVAD patients and prostacyclin drips for pulmonary hypertension
- Actively participating in daily interdisciplinary rounds, contributing to clinical decision-making and care planning
- Providing patient and discharge education to support long-term outcomes and care continuity
- Applying strong time management and rhythm interpretation skills to prioritize care in a dynamic setting
This unit maintains a
4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, allowing for focused, high-quality care delivery. You will work alongside a team that blends deep clinical experience with a strong learning culture, creating an environment where both new and experienced nurses thrive.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $41.05 - $54.15 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
