Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum two years of recent clinical experience in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.
• Completion or enrollment in a certificate program in Post Anaesthetic Care Unit nursing.
• Completed a critical care nursing program with skills in patient care related to various medical devices.
• Extensive knowledge of pain management concepts and use of Epidural and PCA pumps.
• Demonstrated patient/family assessment and teaching skills.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-anesthetic care to patients recovering from surgery.
• Monitor and assess patient vital signs and recovery progress.
• Administer medications and manage pain effectively post-operation.
• Educate patients and families on care plans and post-operative instructions.
• Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with hospital standards.
• Participate in departmental team meetings and professional development activities.
