This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.
This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.
We are seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse (Full Time-Nights) The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized, family-centered nursing care to critically ill and premature newborns in a high-acuity neonatal environment. The RN utilizes clinical expertise, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for neonatal patients while collaborating closely with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities: - Provide direct nursing care to premature, critically ill, and medically complex neonates in the NICU setting.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor neonatal conditions, vital signs, and response to treatment.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and specialized treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
- Operate and monitor advanced neonatal equipment including ventilators, CPAP, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and incubators.
- Assist with neonatal procedures such as intubation, central line placement, umbilical line management, and resuscitation efforts.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
- Educate and support parents and family members regarding neonatal conditions, treatments, discharge planning, and infant care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, unit-based education, and continuing professional development activities.
- Serve as a patient advocate while promoting compassionate and culturally competent care.

Qualifications Requirements- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- DC RN License required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of recent NICU experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
