Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (PRN-Days)

The Medical Surgical/Neuro/Ortho Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and individualized nursing care to adult patients with medical-surgical, neurological, and orthopedic conditions. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes, patient safety, and exceptional patient experience. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients with medical, neurological, and orthopedic diagnoses.
  • Monitor and interpret patient conditions, vital signs, telemetry, neurological status, pain levels, and post-operative recovery progress.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
  • Provide care for post-surgical orthopedic and neurological patients, including joint replacements, spinal surgeries, fractures, stroke, and other acute conditions.
  • Perform neuro assessments and promptly recognize and escalate changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and ancillary staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, discharge instructions, rehabilitation, and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Promote patient safety initiatives, infection prevention standards, fall precautions, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, rapid response situations, and changes in patient acuity.
  • Delegate appropriate patient care tasks to nursing support staff while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development activities.
  • Support organizational goals, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered care initiatives.
