Job Description

This is a 8 hour day shift: 09:30-18:00 working at Mount Zion with the ability to float to other campuses

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

The RN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team caring for patients who are undergoing procedures or exams in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at any Radiology site. The RN carries out established nursing procedures to prepare patients prior to Radiologic procedures, during the procedure, and following the procedure. The RN assists with the management of patient care during moderate sedation and anesthesia cases.

Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors. Carries out legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2 for overall work performance.

Clinical knowledge/skills

The RN maintains knowledge to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate appropriate interventions for the patient who is having

an exam or procedure in Radiology, including IR, NIR, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and MI&T. The RN performs technical procedures safely, legally, effectively, and efficiently, including providing moderate sedation, safe administration of radiographic contrast media, starting and maintaining IVs, and assisting in the care for patients undergoing Imaging services or procedures with anesthesia support.

Patient Care Management

The RN participates collaboratively as a team member to achieve desired patient care outcomes. Team members may include the Radiologists, technologists, anesthesiologists, hospital assistants and other multi-disciplinary staff.

Nursing Process/Documentation

The RN meets the Department of Nursing documentation standards utilizing written and electronic methods of documentation.

Professionalism

The RN adheres and complies with all work related policies and is professionally responsible for maintaining the highest performance standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of recent Radiology nursing experience
  • The ability to wear lead apron when required.
  • Moderate Sedation competency required.
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Radiology Imaging Nursing preferred
  • 2 years experience in either IR, ICU, ED, PACU, or procedural area.
  • Prior experience or knowledge of MRI device monitoring (MRI scanners we do pacemaker interrogation and monitoring)
  • BSN


REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • Current healthcare provider CPR (BLS) and ACLS
  • PALS required for Mission Bay Pediatric Radiology
