Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program is required.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in relevant state is mandatory.
• Experience in managing and treating mental health patients is essential.
• Preferred two years of direct nursing work experience.
• Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, and psychiatric nursing care is necessary.
• Ability to work independently and perform nursing diagnoses without supervision is needed.
• Proficiency with departmental software and computer operations is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical assessments and gather medical histories for incoming detainees.
• Assist with sick call, screen patients, and support minor surgical procedures under physician supervision.
• Implement and monitor physician's orders, ensuring accurate medication administration.
• Conduct observation rounds, document patient progress, and report any issues to management.
• Maintain medication security and be vigilant against drug hoarding among detainees.
• Ensure proper disposal of medical waste and maintain licensing compliance.
• Coordinate scheduling for the Chronic Disease Clinic and supervise LPN workflow.
