Job DescriptionUtilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Responsibilities- Assess, plan, and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making necessary adjustments to care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Perform and document thorough patient assessments, including vital signs and physical examinations.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and self-care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Promote a safe and therapeutic environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:- Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience working in a med-surg telemetry unit
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications:- Strong clinical skills and a comprehensive understanding of medical-surgical nursing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities for complex patient care scenarios.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and relevant healthcare technology.
- Additional certifications or specialized training in telemetry nursing is preferred.
- A commitment to professional development and staying updated with nursing practices.
Licensure/Certifications:- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification
Salary InformationThe final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
