Position Summary:We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Dietitian.
In this role, the successful candidate Evaluate, plan & assess nutritional status of patients in acute care facility.
Job Responsibilities:- Reviews patient charts to obtain relevant data and medical information.
- Other duties assigned my management and/or deemed past practice.
- Follows set policies and procedures for patient assessment/ reassessments
- Confers with other IDC members in determining the best nutritional care for the patients.
- In- services dietary staff on therapeutic diets.
- Maintains current nutrition knowledge via meetings, seminars, CEUs
- Provides timely nutrition assessments when patient is screened at high risk or if there is a consult by the MD or IDC team.
- Conducts meal rounds, calorie counts.
- Provides nutrition education on therapeutic diets and drug/nutrient interactions, involves family when available and documents education properly.
- Documents appropriately in patient's EMR and paper chart.
- Performs comprehensive nutritional assessments of high risk patients.
- Develops nutrition care plans to best meet the needs of each patient.
Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition Sciences or a related major. Successful completion of a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE) 1200 hour dietetic internship program with emphasis on clinical applications. Registered Dietitian (RD). Successful completion of the RD exam approved though the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR -the credentialing Agency for ADA) - must be obtained within the first six months of employment. Certified Dietitian/ Nutritionist (CDN) Must be obtained within 1 year of hire date. Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
