Full Job Description
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is the primary front-line sales representative for strategic accounts and is vital to Hach's ability to deliver customer value and drive growth. The RSM manages a defined territory of large customer accounts with multiple influencers and is accountable for delivering revenue results through territory planning, value-based selling, and execution.

This highly autonomous, remote-based position requires strong business acumen, territory ownership, and the ability to influence customer decisions. Regular travel (up to 50%) within the assigned region is required.

In this role, a typical day will look like:
  • Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans to achieve sales growth, revenue targets, and customer retention objectives.
  • Manage the full sales cycle by identifying new business opportunities, maintaining an accurate pipeline in Salesforce (SFDC), and delivering reliable sales forecasts.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with municipal utilities, engineering firms, consultants, contractors, and other key decision-makers to drive long-term business growth.
  • Conduct customer meetings, site visits, product demonstrations, evaluations, technical presentations, and industry events to promote Hach solutions and expand market presence.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify opportunities and develop effective sales strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including Inside Sales, Field Service, Technical Support, Applications, and Proposal/Bids teams-to deliver customer-focused solutions and ensure a seamless sales process.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and mentor by sharing best practices, supporting less experienced sales professionals, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives such as market research, Kaizen events, and product evaluations.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of successful B2B outside sales experience selling technical or industrial products, capital equipment, or solution-based solutions, preferably within the water, environmental, industrial, or municipal markets.
  • Proven track record of managing a sales territory, developing strategic customer relationships, and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets using a consultative/value-based selling approach.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce (or another CRM) for opportunity management, pipeline development, forecasting, and account planning, with strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to work independently, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and travel up to 50% within the assigned territory (valid driver's license required).
