Job Description

The Regional Sales Manager leads our sales and strategy efforts in the targeted Menards region. This role involves coaching, training, and developing a team of territory sales representatives to achieve and exceed sales targets.

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is a key leadership role responsible for spearheading our sales and strategic initiatives within the targeted Menards region. The RSM will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth and profitability through strategic planning and effective execution. This position demands a dynamic leader who can inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of territory sales representatives to consistently achieve and surpass sales targets.

Job duties involve contact with customers, which may include minors and access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise and other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for growing top line sales, profit, and market share for the Consumer Brands Groups through the Menards stores within an assigned region. This position will also be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of business plans to expand and develop new business opportunities; achieving results by capitalizing on product, merchandising and promotional opportunities; position will also work with other cross functional teams and will utilize CRM for sales planning and reporting. This position will manage, coach, and lead a team of sales representatives focused on driving DIY & PRO business via training store associates, developing business partnerships, creating customer leads and opportunities, as well as making outside sales calls on pro customers. The Regional Sales Manager is also responsible for managing Menards store service levels and maintaining each brand's merchandising integrity within their assigned Region.

Additional Info:

The candidate must be located in the St. Louis Menards Region and will support a field team of 12 Territory Sales Reps.

It is preferred the candidate lives or is willing to relocate in or near the St. Louis, MO market.

Travel is up to 50% for this position and includes overnight travel as well.

Sales Growth and Profitability
  • Drive top-line sales, profit, and market share growth for the Consumer Brands Groups through Menards stores within the assigned region.
  • Effectively utilize sales reporting to identify regional sales opportunities and direct action of territory sales representatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to expand and develop new business opportunities.
  • Plan, develop, and execute business strategies to capitalize on product, merchandising, and promotional opportunities.
  • Develop business partnerships and create customer leads and opportunities.
  • Ensure the team consistently achieves and surpasses sales targets.
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.


Team Leadership and Development
  • Provide coaching and support to sales representatives to improve selling activities and to ensure customers' needs are met.
  • Monitor and influence sales dollars, gallons, and other metrics for each territory.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for assigned Menards Region.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to align sales strategies and initiatives.
  • Identify and direct employee training opportunities, skill development, and performance management for territory sales representatives
  • Monitor execution of key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure high quality and develop action plans with territory sales representatives to achieve expectations.
  • Utilize CRM tools and monitor reporting for effective management of customer relationships


Store Service Levels and Merchandising Integrity
  • Manage Menards store service levels to ensure the highest of customer satisfaction levels.
  • Maintain each brand's merchandising integrity within the assigned region.
  • Monitor task execution to ensure all assigned tasks are completed by territory sales representatives


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
• Must have High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license
• Must have at least two (2) years of work experience in management, sales or consumer products merchandising
• Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Must be willing to travel overnight up to 50% of the time
• Must live within the assigned region or willing to relocate to the assigned region
• If internal to Sherwin-Williams, you must be in role for 1 year or more, or have manager approval to proceed

Preferred Qualifications
• Have a bachelor's degree or higher in business, sales, or marketing
• Have 2 years or more prior experience with financial reports & P&L analysis
• Have 2 years or more prior experience with coaching in a sales or retail environment
• Have 1 year or more prior experience with the Menards account
• Have expert level understanding of the Sherwin-Williams Sales Cycle
