Full Job Description
The Regional Safety Manager is a strategic leader role responsible for overseeing OSHA safety compliance and risk mitigation across a multi-state region. This individual will serve as the primary architect for the region's data-driven safety strategy, leveraging Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence to predict high-risk scenarios, optimize resource allocation, and drive our Goal Zero culture. The ideal candidate blends deep OSHA technical expertise with a modern, tech-forward approach to injury prevention.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. OSHA Compliance & Recordkeeping Excellence
  • Regulatory Oversight: Ensure 100% compliance with OSHA 1904 (Recordkeeping), 1910 (General Industry), and 1926 (Construction) standards across all regional branches.
  • Audit Management: Lead regional internal audits and serve as the primary point of contact for any regulatory agency inspections or inquiries.
  • Reporting: Manage the accuracy and timely submission of OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 logs, ensuring all recordable incidents are investigated and documented with high fidelity.

2. Predictive Safety & AI Integration
  • Predictive Modeling: Partner with Data Science/IT teams to implement AI tools that analyze historical safety data, S.A.F.E. site visit metrics, and telematics to identify leading indicators of risk.
  • Strategic Deployment: Use AI-generated "Heat Maps" and risk scores to direct regional Safety Supervisors and Managers to the crews, branches, or job sites with the highest probability of an incident.
  • Efficiency Gains: Leverage automation and AI to streamline safety reporting, reducing administrative burden and allowing field leaders to focus on high-impact engagement.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity and streamline workflows, or possess the agility and "growth mindset" to rapidly master new AI technologies as they are integrated into Sunrun's operations.

3. Data Analysis & Performance Metrics
  • Metric Development: Move beyond TRIR and DART (Total Recordable Incident Rate and Days Away Restricted and Transferred) to develop and track sophisticated Leading Indicators (e.g., S.A.F.E. visit quality, "Good Catch" frequency, and training completion rates).
  • Tableau Visualization: Manage regional safety dashboards in Tableau to provide real-time visibility into safety performance for executive leadership.
  • Root Cause Intelligence: Utilize data to identify systemic trends in "Near Misses" and "Good Catches," developing targeted regional "Safety Resets" based on empirical evidence.

4. Regional Leadership & Training
  • The Four Pillars: Act as the regional champion for the Four Pillars (Self, Activity, Facility, Experience), ensuring safety is never sacrificed for operational speed.
  • Mentorship: Coach branch-level leadership/supervisors on how to interpret safety data and conduct effective SAFE visits to lead more effective morning huddles and site visits.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of high-severity incidents, utilizing data to reconstruct timelines and implement preventative controls.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Education/Certification: CSP (Certified Safety Professional) is highly desired. We are looking for individuals with a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Data Science; however, significant time in position and demonstrated expertise in these fields may be considered in place of specific degree requirements
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience
  • Analytical Proficiency: Ability to interpret safety dashboards and data trends to make informed decisions on where to deploy resources, in partnership with safety colleagues across the footprint
  • High-Level Communication: Proven experience in "coaching up" and influencing management-level stakeholders to take ownership of safety results.
  • Technology and AI proficiency: Proficiency in technology and leveraging AI tools to efficiently synthesize, create, and interpret data.
  • Content Creation: Proficiency in creating scalable content (videos, webinars, digital bulletins) that reaches a broad audience effectively.
  • Leadership Presence: Must be comfortable transitioning from "boots on the ground" worker to a "consultative partner" who drives results through others.
  • Travel Strategy: Willingness to travel 30% to 60% as required, with a focus on high-impact, risk-based site visits and leadership calibration sessions.
