You will be central to developing the training framework across your region. You will coordinate and carry out a thorough Operations Training, Competency, and Qualification Program covering technical, safety, emergency response, and environmental skills. Your significant contributions will support the cooperative Field Operations training team dedicated to building a skilled, informed, and collaborative workforce.
What You Will Do:- Develop and complete an annual regional training plan. Manage the budget and schedule internal and external training activities.
- Facilitate awareness and engagement sessions to support program implementation.
- Integrate new hires and transfers into the field operations training program including LMS setup and orientation while maintaining accurate, up-to-date training and qualification records for all learners.
- Provide oversight for evaluation and assessment activities conducted by Field Assessors. These activities aim to reduce bias, improve standards, evaluate program effectiveness, and confirm competence for staff performing safety-critical tasks.
- Run system reports and provide progress updates to management.
- Contribute to the design and refinement of training and competency verification programs centered on outcomes, involving coordination of subject matter expert reviews and assessments of training requirements.
- Engage in internal evaluations, annual audits, and compliance verification to guarantee training and qualification procedures are efficient, consistent, and follow regulations.
- Promote a culture of ongoing progress, teamwork, and accountability among team members.
- Build strong relationships with regional collaborators and share standard methodologies with peers to ensure a consistent training approach.
Who You Are:- Related university degree or equivalent experience and four-plus years' experience OR six-plus years of previous field operations experience, OR equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
- Ability to solve problems by applying standard procedures or methods developed through previous experience.
- Strong capacity to work independently, manage competing priorities and coordinate management of change activities related to training programs.
- Broad business and technical knowledge with strong project management skills, awareness of collaborators, and the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Knowledge of the plan-do-check-act process as it applies to management systems.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred:- Certificate in Adult or Continuing Education or another relevant professional certification; experience in training and competency development; classroom facilitation or Train the Trainer background.
- Familiarity with oil and gas pipeline operations.
Working Conditions:- This role is primarily office-based, with about 75% of time spent on training coordination responsibilities. It includes field work and travel within the region (20%) and occasional travel outside the region (5%).
Physical Requirements:The job requires grasping, kneeling, lifting items up to 20 pounds, reaching overhead, repetitive movement, typing, sitting and standing. Visual skills include seeing screens, recognizing color codes, and reading fine print. Hearing and prolonged computer sitting are also necessary.
Mental Requirements:Mental requirements include the ability to understand, remember, and apply oral or written instructions. You must understand complex problems and explore alternative solutions. You should organize thoughts into clear terms and prioritize your short-term work schedule. You will make decisions with moderate impact on your work unit and monitor effects beyond it. You must follow basic instructions, complete routine forms, and compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports. Communication with individuals by telephone is also required.
