Position Summary

The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operational, financial, safety, customer, and workforce performance of a multi-state region. This position provides leadership to Area Managers and frontline operations teams while ensuring consistent execution of company standards, customer commitments, and strategic priorities.

The Regional Operations Manager drives operational excellence, develops leadership capability, maintains strong customer relationships, and delivers safe, productive, and profitable performance across the region.

Essential Responsibilities

Safety and Compliance
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the region.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, customer, state, and federal safety requirements.
  • Monitor damage prevention, quality, safety, and compliance metrics.
  • Conduct operational reviews and audits to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Lead corrective action and performance improvement efforts when required.

Operational Leadership
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of a multi-state region.
  • Ensure consistent execution of company policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Monitor productivity, service levels, quality performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions to improve results.
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives and support company-wide strategic objectives.

Financial Management
  • Manage regional operating performance and budget expectations.
  • Monitor labor, overtime, vehicle, and operational expenses.
  • Drive productivity improvements while maintaining safety, quality, and customer standards.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of personnel and resources across the region.

Leadership and Talent Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop Area Managers and other operational leaders.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development efforts.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Recruiting, and Training to improve staffing, retention, and employee development.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Workforce Planning
  • Monitor workforce levels and staffing requirements across the region.
  • Participate in workforce planning, recruiting, and staffing reviews.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet customer commitments while managing labor costs.
  • Support onboarding and retention initiatives to improve workforce stability.

Customer Management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in customer business reviews and operational meetings.
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support customer growth, contract expansion, and operational startup activities.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience in utility locating, utility services, telecommunications, construction services, field operations, or a related industry.
  • Experience leading multiple managers, locations, or geographic territories.
  • Demonstrated success managing operational, financial, and safety performance.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively throughout assigned region.
