Full Job Description

The Ultrasound Modality Manager is responsible for the operational oversight, quality assurance, technical staff supervision, and professional development of Ultrasound and Echocardiogram imaging services across multiple assigned outpatient imaging centers. The US Modality Manager partners closely with Site Managers, Operations Leadership, and Quality to ensure the highest caliber of patient care, image quality, and service delivery is consistently achieved across all locations. In partnership with the Quality team, the US Modality Manager leads the creation, implementation, and continuous refinement of regional ultrasound imaging programs, including protocol governance, quality monitoring, audit readiness, and accreditation support. This role ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices while driving consistency across blended markets. The US Modality Manager remains focused on the expansion and optimization of imaging services, supporting growth initiatives through staff upskilling of technical knowledge, and development of high-performing teams. This includes coaching technologists, supporting competency validation, and ensuring appropriate clinical coverage models are maintained. Additional responsibilities include oversight of modality-specific supply management through designated technical staff, ensuring supplies are ordered efficiently and managed in a fiscally responsible manner.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Staff Scheduling & Coordination

  • Manage and maintain US and Echo tech schedule, including PTO requests and sick leaves

  • Ensure all rooms remain open

  • Identify capacity constraints and propose expansion opportunities

  • Meet with Operations leaders weekly to review staff schedule

​Clinical Competency

  • Ensure techs are trained in all aspects of US needs, including breast scanning

  • Communicate with Radiologists as needed to address quality concerns

  • Oversee corrections needed for US problem lists, including remdiation and performance correction for technologists

  • Oversee the training and performance of biopsy technologists

  • Work with external resources to expand service offerings through training

Patient Care & Procedure Support

  • Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services efficiently and professionally, ensuring confidentiality and personalized attention. Regional US Managers may actively scan 10-15% of weekly scheduled hours.

  • Maintain high level visibility and interaction with site personnel, technologists, radiologists, service vendors and support personnel as well as the multi-disciplinary team of leaders across the organization that support technical functions.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree or Equivalent Experience

  • 3-5 years of Ultrasound scanning

  • Registered by the ARDMS specialized in Abdomen (AB), Breast (BR) and Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)

  • CPR certification

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience

  • Prior leadership experience

  • Registered by the ARDMS specialized in Vascular Technology (RVT) and Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (RDCS)

Physical Requirements:

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit. The employee will be exposed to a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

More than 50% of the time:
