Full Job Description
Regional Landfill Gas Program Manager

Central Illinois • Peoria, IL

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is the technical authority seat for landfill gas across an entire region - not a site-level job. You'll own the regional LFG program end to end: system design and construction, monitoring and compliance, capital planning, and gas-to-energy performance across a portfolio of sites. It's a rare blend of engineering depth and program ownership, with real budget influence and direct exposure to regulators, consultants, and corporate leadership. The right person is a landfill gas subject matter expert who wants scope beyond one landfill and enjoys being the person everyone calls when the wellfield isn't behaving.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN

  • Serve as the region's internal technical expert on landfill gas infrastructure - gas collection systems, LFG monitoring, gas control systems, and gas-to-energy
  • Coordinate and oversee the regional landfill gas management program, including ownership of the region's landfill gas database
  • Plan and manage construction projects for landfill gas infrastructure from design through completion
  • Maintain, update, and enforce internal best-practice standards for landfill gas infrastructure construction, and ensure compliance against them
  • Support landfill capital planning and carry financial responsibility for LFG infrastructure and gas system O&M
  • Support permit applications and designs - including regulatory interface, site expansions, modifications, and operating plan changes tied to gas management
  • Lead technical engineering review with focus on safety, design, constructability, quality, regulatory compliance, and cost savings
  • Coordinate monthly and ad hoc status reporting; analyze system data and deliver actionable feedback
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the post-collection management team on landfill gas subject matter, and provide relief support for key post-collection roles
  • Oversee compliance and corrective action for odor control at post-collection facilities
  • Represent the company in discussions with regulatory agencies, consultants, corporate, and investors - including regulatory and industry association meetings
  • Drive technology advancement and continuous improvement in landfill gas engineering and operating practice, and champion a safety-first HSE culture across the region

WHAT YOU BRING

  • College degree, or equivalent hands-on experience in landfill gas management
  • Progressive experience in the design, installation, and diagnostics of landfill gas control systems
  • Experience with landfill construction and operation
  • General understanding of safe application and best practice for earthwork and HDPE pipe welding in landfill gas infrastructure construction
  • Working knowledge of EPA, state EPA, OSHA, and related state and federal regulations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once and consistently hit due dates
  • Strong written and verbal communication - able to work effectively with consultants, contractors, regulators, and internal staff
  • Advanced Excel skills for building, populating, and monitoring data sets; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized
  • Able to work in extreme weather, dust, strong odors, and around waste, machinery, and heavy equipment; lifting up to 50 lbs

WHY THIS ROLE

  • Regional program ownership across a multi-site landfill portfolio - not a single-site role
  • Technical authority seat: the region's go-to expert on gas collection, control, and gas-to-energy
  • Capital project ownership from design through construction and commissioning
  • Direct exposure to regulators, consultants, and corporate leadership
  • Landfill gas is where the capital is flowing - strong long-term platform in a growing specialty
