Full Job Description
The Regional Director of Patient Access provides strategic leadership and oversight of Patient Registration operations across an assigned region, ensuring standardized processes, operational excellence, and compliance with best practices. The role leads facility-based registration directors, drives performance against client and organizational KPIs, improves patient access and revenue cycle outcomes, and ensures accurate registration and clean billing. Responsibilities include enhancing patient, employee, and client experiences, strengthening client relationships, maximizing point-of-service collections, fostering employee engagement, and driving continuous process improvements through performance management, accountability, and solid leadership.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight of patient access and revenue cycle operations, including registration, point-of-service collections, financial clearance, financial counseling, customer service, scheduling, bed management, transfer center, to drive operational and financial performance.

  • Drives quality, process improvement, and revenue cycle performance through data-driven initiatives and site oversight


Regional Leadership

  • Leads Facility Directors and regional operations to achieve productivity, compliance, and performance goals


Client & Employee Engagement

  • Builds solid client partnerships and fosters employee engagement to enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes


Strategic Governance

  • Provides executive reporting, leadership guidance, and Patient Registration expertise to support organizational objectives
  • Drives standardization, process integration, and operational improvements across Patient Access functions by implementing Optum 360 best practices, managing change initiatives, and enhancing efficiency, patient experience, and financial performance
  • Provides leadership across Patient Access operations by hiring, developing, coaching, and engaging high-performing teams, fostering collaboration with business and clinical stakeholders, and driving employee satisfaction, accountability, and operational excellence
  • Leads special projects and strategic initiatives by developing project plans, coordinating resources, and driving successful execution across cross-functional teams
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational policies while fostering a service-oriented culture that promotes ethical practices, operational excellence, and stakeholder satisfaction

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in supervisory / management role
  • 5+ years of Acute Care Facility Patient Access Department leadership experience, managing one or more functional areas of patient scheduling, pre-service/financial clearance, registration, financial counseling, or other management functions related to revenue cycle activities in a complex, multi-site environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Proven solid organizational and program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver timely results
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% based on home location and project needs


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of consulting and project management experience in revenue cycle design and optimization
  • 5+ years of experience with major Patient Access technologies or similar systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, apply process improvement techniques, identify resource or priority shifts, and escalate recommendations to leadership as needed
  • Effective collaborator across executive, management and staff

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
