At Vertex Education, we change lives through education — and as a Regional Director of School Operations, you help make that happen by leading high-quality operations across up to 11 Legacy campuses. You’ll assist the Senior Director of School Operations in driving efficiency, standardization, and continuous improvement. You also will lead and coach campus Directors of School Operations, to remove barriers, improve safety and compliance, and create a smooth, student-centered experience.
1. Execution of Operational Strategy:
Partner with the Senior Director of School Operations to execute network-wide strategies and initiatives across up to 11 campuses.
Recruit, hire and coach campus-based Directors of School Operations to lead daily operations.
Monitor campus progress toward key performance metrics, proactively addressing challenges and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Collaborate with campus and deputy superintendents to ensure operations support student achievement and success.
2. Financial Management & Enrollment Growth:
Support the DSOs to manage campus budgets, acting on insights for cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Assist with and improve the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) planning process, ensuring alignment with long-term facility and network priorities.
Improve procurement, inventory and vendor management processes to drive efficiency, cost savings, and service quality.
Implement best practices with DSOs to improve the student enrollment experience and retention strategies to support network growth.
3. Operational Excellence:
Implement a daily accountability system with visual boards to track metrics, identify root causes and escalations that drive action for performance improvement.
Implement standard work through process documentation, training, and optimized scheduling (including all breaks) to enhance school operations.
Applying Lean principles and rapid improvement events to streamline campus operations with DSOs.
Assist with operational audits and quality checks, ensuring compliance with safety, facilities, and procedural standards across all schools.
4. Safety, Compliance & Risk Management:
Implement and enforce campus safety protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance and best practices in emergency preparedness.
Support DSOs in deploying effective and compliant campus traffic flow, student safety, emergency drills and response planning.
Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to improve school operations and minimize potential liabilities.
Work with campus operations teams to support PTO/PVO engagement activities aligned to school policies.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, education leadership, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in site operations, facilities management, or school operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in business administration, education leadership, or a related field.
Experience in a K-12 charter school or educational operations.
Proven experience implementing Lean principles, process standardization, and continuous improvement.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management, CAPEX planning, and procurement.
Exceptional communication, people leadership, and relationship management skills
Certifications (Preferred but not required):
Continuous Improvement (Green Belt or above, Lean Six Sigma)
Certified Facilities Manager (CFM)
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification
OSHA 30-Hour Certification
Travel between campuses (local, regional, and out-of-state) is required.
Duties may include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.
Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; to enter data into a computer keyboard; to research identified job-related duties using the Internet and other resources; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
