Description:
The Regional Director serves as a member of the Commission Senior Leadership Team, consulting with and providing recommendations to the Executive Director in the formulation and implementation of Commission policies and programs. Additionally, the Regional Director provides Office of Executive Director oversight and coordination for the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Provides Office of Executive Director oversight and coordination for the region.
The development of program philosophy; formulation and execution of operational strategies; and implementation of agency priority issues in partnership with Division and Office Directors and Regional Operations Office.
Provides administrative review of agency programs, which include land acquisition; management restoration and research projects; information and education programs between the Commission and various public and private agencies and organizations at the local, regional, state and national levels.
Serves as a contact for agency constituents to resolve issues relating to Commission programs, policies, regulations and personnel.
Works with FWC Commissioners and their staff to resolve constituent issues; briefs them on Commission programs, policies and operational issues; arranges field trips and work days as appropriate; and consults with them as necessary to coordinate Commission activities.
Directs programs and supervises the regional personnel responsible for purchasing; office management and maintenance; property management; and human resource support.
The selected candidate must pass a background check.
Preferred Education and Training
A four-year college or university degree plus years of supervisory or administrative experience is preferred.
A four-year college degree in the natural sciences, biological sciences or natural resource law enforcement is preferred.
An advanced degree in natural sciences, biological sciences or natural resource law enforcement is also preferred.
Supervisory and administrative experience in natural resource management, natural resource research or natural resource law enforcement is also preferred.
Employment in this position is contingent upon results of a level 2 criminal history check, in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.
