Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

  • Responsible for obtaining profitable results for the region by developing the buying team through motivation, counseling, skills development, and market knowledge.
  • Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and training efforts to grow the company buying staff.
  • Assist in the development of regional strategies & business plan covering procurement of scrap metals, revenues & expense control. Meet agreed upon targets and promote the organization at the retail, industrial and business-to-business levels.
  • Manage the purchasing administration functions & performance reporting, helping to streamline processes wherever possible.
  • Ensure local, state & federal compliance of all required recycling regulations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure receipt of quality material, consistent tonnage, and credibility in the company. Advise senior management on maximizing business relationships & improving customer service.
  • Clearly communicate & drive company-wide initiatives & strategies.
  • Forecast weekly, monthly, and annual volumes and margins for the region. Adjust purchase pricing through monitoring of competition and market conditions to meet forecast. Minimum Requirements:
