Full Job Description
Title: Regional Affairs Manager
Company: Tampa Electric Company
State and City: Florida - Tampa
Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days

POSITION CONCEPT

This position is responsible for developing, cultivating, and managing strategic relationships with elected officials, governmental staff, business and community leaders, community associations, property management firms, and customers for Tampa Electric. Promotes the successful achievement of company financial goals and quick return on investment through the Storm Protection Plan (SPP) clause. This position supports operations including permits, outreach on SPP projects, assistance with customer matters and emergency response functions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Strategically, proactively, and effectively manage key governmental, political, and industry relationships in the Tampa Electric service territory; identifying the risks and opportunities to SPP, establishing open communication channels with key stakeholders specific to SPP priorities and goals, understanding the impacts to other business priorities, to effectively shape positive outcomes. (30%)
  2. Provide proactive and reactive support to our customers, community organizations/nonprofits to strategically message SPP priorities and activities through individual customer, community meetings, and traditional communications methods. (20%)
  3. Represent SPP program interests to government partners to advise policy makers and staff on plans, projects, and outcomes. By interfacing with partners on policy plans/interpretations to ensure approval and efficiency of SPP projects. (15%)
  4. Work with regional managers to access and educate community leaders on SPP program, specific projects, and to address inquiries on future SPP work. (10%)
  5. Consult with SPP team and contract partners on upcoming infrastructure projects, proactively reviewing plans to identify potential community concerns, providing community outreach recommendations and leading execution of related tasks. (10%)
  6. Provide tactical support to operations/business units on escalated issues from local governments related to rights-of-way access, permitting, relocation of facilities, emergencies, customer matters and any local government policy, ordinance or rule that affects providing reliable, cost-effective service. (10%)
  7. Work with community investment manager to identify opportunities for community support in areas of SPP impact and need. Maintains working knowledge of current and historic support that can be leveraged in coordination with community outreach. (5%)


SUPERVISION

Indirect Supervision: Provides leadership across the department and company through consulting and sharing expertise.

RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal: Regulatory Affairs, Customer Experience and Economic Development, Regional Affairs, Energy Delivery, Legal, Real Estate, Business Strategy and Communications & Marketing.

Key External: Local Government Policymakers and Staff, Regulatory Agencies, Community associations, property management firms, Business Community and Economic Development Organizations, Non-Profits

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required: Minimum of A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Political Science, Business or any other related field of study is required.

Preferred: MBA or other graduate degree in the above fields

Licenses/Certifications

Preferred: PMP or CPM certification

Related Experience

Required: Minimum ofsix years of related experience related to a portion of the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.

Preferred: Experience working in a utility industry as in a capacity that deals with local governments and regulatory agencies, community and special interest groups, public policy and/or experience working for a local or state elected official, municipality or agency as a political consultant or in similar work for a business or association or other experience related to the position is an advantage.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required:Knowledge of governmental processes at local, state or federal level. Ability to understand complex regulatory and legislative issues. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills also required.

Preferred: Knowledge of the utility sector.
