About the position

Duties
Directs and oversees regional Technical Services and Facilities operations, including facilities management, engineering and maintenance, facilities planning, food services, construction, and capital projects. Leads strategic planning, resource management, policy implementation, and service delivery across the region, ensuring compliance with operational, health and safety, and service standards. Provides expert advice to senior management, manages multidisciplinary teams and budgets, supports key programs such as environmental and electronic security systems, and represents the organization with federal, provincial, municipal, and external partners to advance infrastructure and operational objectives.

Intent of the process
This process is primarily intended to staff one position within Kingston, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be retained to staff similar positions in the Kingston area.

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

Education
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Occupational Certification
• Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Experience
• Significant experience* planning and managing maintenance projects, programs, and services for facilities infrastructure and equipment.
• Significant experience* managing human and financial resources.
• Significant experience* providing advice and recommendations to management on infrastructure and equipment maintenance issues.

*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience usually acquired through approximately two (2) years of combined experience in a relevant role.

• Experience working on infrastructure projects in a Federal Government department.
• Experience working in a correctional services technical environment, including but not limited to Food Services, Environmental Services, Engineering and Maintenance, Fleet and Heavy Equipment Management, and Institutional Goods and Services.
