Full Job Description
Refrigeration Service Technician

Department: Construction, Engineering, & Skilled Trades

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: New Jersey

Compensation: $44.00 - $52.00 / hour

Description

We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our specialized laboratory service team. While we specialize in high-end equipment, including Ultra-Low Temperature (ULT) systems, we are specifically looking for a strong "standard" refrigeration mechanic who is eager to be trained in this high-stakes, technical niche.

This is a highly autonomous, field-based role where you will serve as the primary point of contact for our clients. You will work directly with professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and university sectors, ensuring their critical research environments and life-saving samples remain stable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Service Excellence: Operate independently to provide on-site diagnostics, repair, and maintenance for a variety of laboratory systems.
  • Specialized Refrigeration: Service commercial-grade laboratory refrigeration, including walk-in cold rooms, environmental rooms, and environmental test chambers.
  • ULT Training: Receive specialized training to service Ultra-Low Temperature systems (ranging from -856C to -1506C) and cascade refrigeration units.
  • Compliance & Precision: Perform services with a strict focus on ISO calibrations. You must be meticulously detail-oriented, ensuring all documentation and "T's are crossed and I's are dotted" to meet rigorous laboratory standards.
  • Client Consultation: Clearly communicate technical issues to end-users and represent the company with the highest level of integrity.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Core Experience: Solid commercial refrigeration service background.
  • Technical Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Independence: Proven ability to work with minimal supervision while managing a regional service territory across NJ, PA, and DE.
  • Professionalism: Exceptional "soft skills" with a socially adept, customer-facing personality.
  • EPA Universal Certification or OEM training.
  • Previous experience in "clean" or regulated environments (Pharma, Biotech, Hospitals, or Research Universities).
  • Experience with environmental test chambers or steam-based systems (autoclaves/washers) is a plus.
  • Exposure to ULT freezers is a bonus, but not required-we will train the right person.
