Full Job Description
Refrigeration & Plumbing Manager

Location: Hatfield, PA | On-Site

Schedule: Primarily 1st Shift | Availability required to support a 24/7 operation, including occasional off-shift, weekend, holiday, and emergency needs

This role oversees refrigeration and plumbing leadership, skilled trades team members, contractors, maintenance programs, and capital priorities within a complex, 24/7 food manufacturing operation.

You will be responsible for critical systems that include industrial ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, sprinklers, risers, supply water, and water-softening systems. This is an opportunity to develop technical teams, strengthen equipment reliability, and guide long-term infrastructure investments across the campus.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop refrigeration and plumbing superintendents, supervisors, skilled trades team members, contractors, and support personnel.
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for refrigeration, plumbing, HVAC, boiler, water, and related facility systems.
  • Develop short- and long-term infrastructure plans, including scheduled replacements, capital requests, maintenance reserve needs, and multiyear project priorities.
  • Manage staffing, overtime, departmental budgets, maintenance expenses, and contractor costs.
  • Coordinate outages, shutdowns, facility upgrades, major repairs, construction activities, and contractor performance.
  • Monitor equipment reliability, downtime, work order backlog, preventive maintenance completion, labor productivity, and other departmental KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management, OSHA requirements, environmental regulations, applicable codes, food safety expectations, and company policies.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Safety, and external vendors to resolve issues, improve reliability, and support campus priorities.


What We're Looking For

  • 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in industrial maintenance, skilled trades, construction, utilities, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong technical experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration and HVAC systems, along with plumbing infrastructure such as boilers, sprinklers, risers, supply water, and water-softening systems.
  • Experience managing maintenance programs, capital projects, infrastructure planning, operational budgets, and contractor performance.
  • Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management, OSHA requirements, safety systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, maintenance planning tools, KPI reporting, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, team development, project management, financial management, and fact-based decision-making skills.
  • Experience in food processing or another complex, 24/7 industrial environment is preferred.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.


Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in industrial, manufacturing, construction, and maintenance environments.
  • Ability to walk throughout the campus, climb stairs and ladders, access operational areas, occasionally lift up to 75 pounds, and wear required PPE.
  • Comfort working around industrial equipment, machinery, noise, temperature variations, and outdoor conditions.
