The Reentry Center Manager oversees custody and non-custody staff as well as contracted services to ensure daily operations, safety, and programming align with departmental policy and legal standards. Through thoughtful supervision, problem-solving, and clear communication, this position promotes a culture of safety, consistency, and fairness while also supporting individualized case planning, behavior interventions, and evidence-based programming that addresses each person's risks, needs, and strengths.
This role plays a key part in building meaningful pathways for reentry by partnering with community and state agencies such as Victim Services, DSHS, DOL, Veteran's Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, and community colleges. By fostering strong relationships and coordinating resources, the Reentry Center Manager helps individuals access housing, employment, treatment, education, and support systems that reduce barriers to reentry and increase opportunities for lasting change.

As a
Reentry Center Manager, some of your duties will include:
- Supervising and managing staff, facilities and work performed in assigned Reentry Center which could look like:
- Directing and managing employee work performance to ensure it meets accepted standards for quality and timeliness
- Maintaining the highest standards of personal/professional and ethical conduct and support the state's goals for a diverse workforce.
- Conducting timely employee performance evaluations and ensure proper coaching and training is provided
- Assessing staff individually for career development, personal/professional goals, and provide them with training and/or rotational experiences
- Recognizing good performance and address performance deficiencies to help the employee become successful and appropriately document in the employee records
- Managing staff schedules, including leave, overtime/compensatory time according to departmental guidelines and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements
- Implementing, directing and evaluating statewide programs/policies (e.g., risk management, client programs, community involvement) to include:
- Approving and oversight of arrests, searches, and management of evidence in accordance with policy and current legal mandates
- Mitigating individual's risk to the community by working with staff to accurately assess and identify risk factors
- Utilizing client needs for program referrals to mitigate risk
- Developing and implementing Facility Emergency Response, Covid 19 procedures and Pandemic plans
- Acting as the Incident Commander during emergency situations
- Opening and assuming command of the Facility Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the event of a major emergency or disaster
- Serving as the Incident Commander during emergencies with responsibilities to manage the facilities response and recovery from critical incidents and significant events
- Determining the allocation of resources and personnel, management of the incident based on emergency protocols, and coordination of activities with the facilities/offices and other federal, state and local agencies while communicating through the Headquarters Duty Offer and EOC
- Developing and supervising participant classification standards which could include:
- Making the final decisions regarding screening committees/boards and participating in committees within the community for the effective transition of individuals and the management of the Reentry Center in the community
- Overseeing the final approval of the custody and facility plan
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for individuals to be recognized for positive change, to include, acknowledgements and incentives
- Administering and facilitating the review and implementation of classification discussion and recommendations
QualificationsWhat we need (required qualifications):- A Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
AND- A minimum of five (5) years experience in Reentry, Community Corrections or related field with two (2) years supervisory or lead experience*
OR- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university who accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
AND- A minimum of seven (7) years experience in Reentry, Community Corrections or related field with two (2) years supervisory or lead experience*
OR- A high school diploma or GED equivalent
AND- A minimum of nine (9) years' experience in Reentry, Community Corrections or related field with two (2) years supervisory or lead experience*
In addition to the above education/experience, the required knowledge, skills and/or abilities are required:
- Demonstrated ability to provide positive leadership in times of stress, conflict, and unforeseen events
- Remain calm and rational while handling difficult situations to include, but not limited to, volatile, threatening, or other crisis/emergency situations
- Expertly intervene in response to threats
- Working knowledge of incarcerated individual management and supervision, including behavior management, classification process, sanitation, security and safety
- Understanding of individual program
- Experience working with other governmental and/or social service entities in the development or implementation of a program, project, or other joint venture
- Experience in the effective application of Human Resource practices to maintain a trained and diverse workforce
- Staff who do not qualify for legacy status are required to be armed and must be: willing and able to possess and use a firearm under federal and state laws, maintain firearm qualifications, and successfully complete ongoing training requirements associated with mandatory arming and potential use of force
* Experience and education may be gained concurrently with other required experience
What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications): - Knowledge of Department of Corrections policies/procedures/Operational Memorandums, RCWs, WACs, PREA standards and ACA standards
- Experience applying the Sentencing Reform Act, particularly as it pertains to Community Placement, the Offender Accountability Act, and Sentencing Alternatives
If selected for this role, you may be required to meet the following special requirements and conditions of employment:- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check
- Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training
- Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections
- Become familiar and comply with all Department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable
- Must possess and maintain a vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Washington
- Armed staff must:
- Be able to carry and properly utilize a department-issued firearm
- Maintain eligibility to possess and use a firearm under federal and state laws
- Successful completion the firearms academy
- Successful completion psychological screening
- Maintain qualifications per department training standards with department-issued firearm
- Complete all agency requalification training and an annual criminal history clearance to remain armed
- Successful complete Control/Impedance Tactics (CIT) training, psychological screening, and criminal history clearance
- Must complete all agency qualifications in firearms academy and requalification training and an annual criminal history clearance to remain armed, when applicable
- Maintain Qualifications per department training standards with Department-issued firearms and with Intermediate Force options (e.g., OC 'pepper' spray or electronic immobilization devices), when applicable
- Maintain CIT qualifications
- Maintain confidentiality of information obtained through job performance as protected by agency policy or state or federal law
