Full Job Description
ECS is seeking a Red Hat OpenShift Cloud Engineer to work in Fairfax, VA and various government locations supporting the development and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Solutions for a DoD customer.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Red Hat OpenShift Cloud Engineer to join our team in supporting a large DoD program that operates and maintains multiple AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and classified cloud environments. This role will function as a Red Hat OpenShift subject matter expert (SME) and coordinate with cloud and on-premise infrastructure teams to develop, deploy, optimize, and support multiple Red Hat OpenShift deployments operating at all classification levels and across multiple cloud providers.

Responsibilities include:
  • OpenShift Architecture and Administration: Develop, plan, and execute deployment of OpenShift environments at any impact level (IL2-IL6) and within cloud, on-premise, or hybrid infrastructures. This includes documentation and adherence to security policies as mandated by ATO requirements. Advise Project Management, Customer leadership, and partner teams on migration to OpenShift operations for AI/ML development.
  • OpenShift Operational Support: Support onboarding of customer and partner teams into supported OpenShift deployments. Coordinate with Project Management teams and partners to ensure appropriate resourcing while operating within provided budgetary guidance. Function as SME for existing Cloud and Infrastructure teams and facilitate cross-training and documentation to expand OpenShift knowledge within the existing team.
  • OpenShift Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot production failures. Support partners and customers with troubleshooting operational failures. Maintain security compliance and develop/execute remediations, patching, and POAMS as necessary to maintain security compliance and ATO status.
  • Support Across All Classification Levels: Red Hat OpenShift deployments supported by the program span all cloud Impact Levels (IL2 - IL6) and multiple cloud providers. Candidate will be required to support Red Hat Open Shift operations at all classification levels. This requires work from a SCIF 2-4 days a week, but additional days may be required as needed to support critical deployments and operational support.
  • Thrive in a hybrid environment (split between SCIF/on-site and remote), able to be on-site at SCIF up to 4 days a week.
  • Successfully communicate to customers, contract program managers, industry partners, ECS senior management, and Government representatives.
  • Provide leadership and creativity in new business capture and proposal development.
  • Track industry trends and leverage them to drive innovation and solution excellence across various functional domains.


Salary Range: 175,000-210,000

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
