Definition

Currently, there is one full-time Recreation Coordinator vacancy at the Oasis Senior Center. This position will coordinate the daily operations, programs, and services of the OASIS Fitness Center. The ideal candidate possesses excellent customer service and communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and experience supporting fitness and wellness programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively supervise staff while promoting a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for older adults. The eligibility list established from this recruitment may be used for future Recreation Coordinator vacancies.

Selection Components:
  • Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted until Friday, October 16, 2026, or at 150 applications- whichever occurs first. Candidates are required to submit a resumefor the application package to be considered complete. The most qualified applicants will be invited to a virtual interview.
  • Virtual Interview: Tentatively scheduled for the week of November 05, 2026. Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Retirement:

The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee is required to contribute 8% or half the normal cost, whichever is higher, towards the retirement benefit.

Experience & Education and License/Certificate
A combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of experience in developing programs and activities OR at least one year working directly with public recreation agency or program.
Education: An associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation administration, human services and development, public administration, or a related field.
License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
