SummaryProcures cost effective wholesale power for SRP retail load on a "next hour" basis. Sells wholesale power to other utilities and power marketers on a "next hour" basis. Identifies, negotiates and executes wholesale purchases and associated sales when opportunities for arbitrage exit. Coordinates generating unit commitment plans to optimize the use of acquired gas supply while minimizing fuel and purchased power expenses. Identifies and secures cost effective transmission paths to facilitate wholesale power transactions. Coordinates emergency actions related to wholesale power transactions. Complies with all applicable FERC, WECC, and NERC policies and standards, including the exchange of electronic tagging information (ETAGS) with all counterparties.
What You'll DoPrefer experience in MS Apps, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience* Experience as a Real Time Power Trader, Power Dispatcher, Power Plant Control Room Operator, Power Accounting Specialist, Engineering Technician, Design Engineer, or other relevant experience is required.
This position may be filled at one of three levels outlined below, based on the candidate's relevant experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and competencies.
- Level I - Associate: Requires up to two (2) years of relevant experience.
- Level II - Journey: Requires a minimum of two (2) years and less than five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Level III - Senior: Requires five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
Eligibility for advancement (progression) to the next level in the same role is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.
EducationCompletion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours related to the position from an accredited is preferred.

Hybrid WorkplaceSRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
