Full Job Description
We are looking for a Railcar Repair Supervisor - Valve Department to lead frontline operations, ensure quality and safety standards, and drive daily execution on the shop floor. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and is passionate about leading teams and delivering operational results. What You'll Do: This role is responsible for leading repair operations, overseeing hourly employees, and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all work activities. On any given day, you will: • Lead, coach, and develop hourly employees across repair activities • Drive safe work practices and ensure adherence to all safety standards • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FRA, AAR, company, and customer requirements • Monitor daily production, track work in process, and update job status • Participate in daily production meetings and communicate progress updates • Partner with Quality and EHS teams to maintain compliance and audit readiness • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of employees • Manage materials and equipment in coordination with Materials leadership • Identify improvement opportunities and support process enhancements • Address employee relations matters, including coaching and corrective actions What Makes This Role Different: • Frontline Leadership - Direct daily oversight of shop operations and workforce • High Visibility Impact - Critical role in safety, quality, and delivery performance • Team Development - Opportunity to lead, coach, and grow a skilled workforce • Operational Ownership - Hands-on role driving production and accountability What We're Looking For: We're seeking a strong people leader with operational knowledge and a focus on safety, quality, and execution. Requirements: • High School Diploma or equivalent required • 5+ years of experience in railcar repair, manufacturing, or industrial operations • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience • Knowledge of FRA regulations and AAR Interchange Rules • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Preferred: • Bachelor's Degree in a related field • Experience leading in a regulated environment • Background in continuous improvement or Lean practices Work Environment: • Significant time spent on the shop floor in an industrial environment • Exposure to equipment, noise, and varying weather conditions • Physical activity including walking, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs) • Required use of PPE and adherence to all safety standards Site Specific Details: (To be customized per posting/location) • Location: Oelwein, Iowas • Shift: First Shift, Monday - Friday 6:00am - 4:30pm • Compensation: Base Salary: $80,000 - $85,000, 10% Production Bonus Compensation & Benefits We know this role requires skill, flexibility, and commitment, and we compensate accordingly.
