Job Summary:

The Content Director at the University of Colorado School of Medicine plays a pivotal role in shaping medical education by developing and overseeing curricula that ensure students acquire the core knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become competent physicians. This role involves administering and enhancing educational programs, ensuring alignment with learning objectives, assessing student performance, and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards. The Content Director collaborates with faculty, recruits and supports educators, and fosters continuous quality improvement through curriculum reviews and innovative teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

10% - Administration:
• Assume responsibility for content's orientation including scheduling, assessment, organization, and content execution.
• Ensure content materials, schedules, small group rosters (if applicable), and other content are of high quality, current, posted, easily accessible, and reflect the educational objectives and content being delivered.
• Serve as a resource and communicate in a timely manner with students, administrative staff, and faculty.

25% - Curriculum Execution and Program Innovation:
• Provide oversight of curricula and programs with a focus on development and implementation of specific scientific content across all phases of the curriculum and linking stated objectives to educational strategies and learner assessment.
• Ensure all teaching faculty and students are aware and understand the content's competencie
• and learning goals.
• Ensure adherence to shared policies as developed by curriculum committees and OME leadership.
• Modify existing or develop new curricula or methods of delivery based on needs, changing LCME requirements, and as charged by curriculum oversight bodies.
• Actively participate in the development and maintenance of a curriculum map that includes goals, learning objectives, content, educational strategies and assessments.

30% - Curriculum Review, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Accreditation
• Track, monitor, assess, and identify areas for improvement in the curriculum with the goal of continuous quality improvement or as dictated by the curriculum oversight bodies.
• With the assistance of the OME Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Outcomes, evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum in achieving learning outcomes.
• Provide and present content reports to the appropriate Curriculum Committees with the aid of the OME Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Outcomes.
• Meet with the appropriate Assistant Dean to report on the progress of improvements in the related courses.
• Provide data, descriptive information, and reports to communicate course content, instructional methods, assessment, and outcomes to support overall OME program and to ensure compliance with LCME standards and other reporting requirements (e.g., Curriculum Inventory).

10% - Student Assessment and Grading
• Set clear expectations for student performance.
• Work with course directors to:

o Provide fair, and effective formative and summative assessments.

o Provide assessment results to students to support their learning and on-going development.

o Monitor reliability, validity, and alignment of exams with learning objectives and course content.

10% - Faculty Recruitment, Support & Development
• If the Radiology content director themself is not personally teaching a session, they are responsible to recruit and develop faculty for delivering, facilitating, and/or precepting educational content that aligns with session objectives and fits the overall longitudinal content as well as the current course.
• Work with OME and curriculum office to coordinate facilitator and faculty development needs.
• Assure a professional learning climate.

15% - Collaborative meeting attendance and participation
• Work with other Content Directors to improve and standardize elements of curriculum, develop policies, provide input, ensure compliance with LCME standards, as well as disseminate best practices.
• Attendance and participation at these meetings and curriculum retreats are priorities.
• See specific curriculum committee bylaws for meeting frequency and minimum attendance requirements.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Preferred Qualifications:
• One or more years of teaching experience to medical students.
• Working experience and knowledge of the medical education curriculum at the University of Colorado School of Medicine
• Preferred start date: Negotiable, but desired is by November 1, 2026.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and value working within a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to cultivate relationships with both university and community physicians and be available to answer questions and problem solve as needed.
• Ability to maintain sustainable relationships with other faculty in the school of medicine and work to ensure the Pre-clerkship Curriculum is well represented within the school.
• Skilled at and enjoy working with students, helping them with any preceptor issues, providing advice on how to troubleshoot/resolve issues, and assisting students to ensure their success.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $12,500 as 0.05 FTE salary support, up to the educational salary cap of $250,000.

Senior Instructor: $12,500 as 0.05 FTE salary support, up to the educational salary cap of $250,000.

Assistant Professor: $12,500 as 0.05 FTE salary support, up to the educational salary cap of $250,000.

Associate Professor: $12,500 as 0.05 FTE salary support, up to the educational salary cap of $250,000.

Professor: $12,500 as 0.05 FTE salary support, up to the educational salary cap of $250,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
