Radiological/Nuclear Design Engineer-The Radiological / Nuclear Design Engineer supports design changes affecting shielding, contamination control, radiological monitoring, access control, and dose reduction features in a radioactive processing environment.
Duties:- Perform or support radiological design evaluations for shielding, dose, contamination control, and monitoring impacts.
- Review design changes for effects on access control, confinement zones, monitoring locations, and ALARA objectives.
- Coordinate with ventilation, structural, I&C, and process engineering to incorporate radiological design requirements.
- Support design reviews, hazards reviews, and readiness activities.
- Recommend design features that improve worker protection and reduce radiological exposure.
Education/Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in nuclear, radiological, or shielding-related engineering work.
- Knowledge of radiation protection and contamination control fundamentals.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience supporting design changes in radiological or nuclear facilities.
- Familiarity with ALARA principles and radiation monitoring systems.
Other Job Requirements:- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
